It was late
when we arrived in Egypt. As we walked through the streets of Cairo, we
realized it was getting cold and dark. Suddenly we noticed a figure rushing in
the direction of the pyramids.
‘Did you see
that?’ said Velma.
‘Yeah’ we all
said in unison.
‘Should we go
check it out?’ asked Mike.
‘Why not?
What’s the worst that could happen?’ replied Sam.
That’s when
we decided to head to the pyramid to find out what that mysterious figure was.
When we
got there, we realized how scary the pyramid was. At first, Sam was really
confident and wanted to go in the front, but soon she got really scared because
she saw a huge spider. So, we decided to go all together. A few moments later,
we were still walking, it felt like an infinite hallway. When we looked back we
noticed someone was following us.
“Who's
there!?” shouted Velma. “It’s me.” said a mysterious voice.
When the
strange figure stepped forward we realized it was the pilot of the airplane.
“Did I scare you guys?” he asked.
“A little bit” I said.
In the
end we all got back to our hotel, but I still thought something was wrong. The
next morning, while we were exploring, I could still feel someone following us…

It was a sunny morning in the beginning of July, the fields were very dry and it was scorching hot. The animals were running away from the sun-light and a very loud music was playing.
- Let me see the map! - said John to his sister.
- Seriously John, I can read it! Once again, you think you are the only one capable of doing things.
- Just let me see the map, Maddie! I need to know where I am in order to drive to our destination.
- Fine! But you are definitely not helping me to feel connected to you!
- I don't care! I didn't come here to connect with you like mom and dad wanted, I just couldn't stand listening to them anymore!
- Whatever, John. Where are you going?
- To Arizona! Isn't that our destination?
- Yeah, but you are heading to the opposite side.
- No, I'm not. You must be reading the map upside down! Just shut up and let me drive!
He put the radio louder and continued to drive in the same direction. After 3 hours, they were still on the way but should have already arrived.
He finally understood Maddie was right so he tried to get her attention.
- Are we going on the right way, Maddie?
- No, I already told so. You need to drive more 10 km and turn backwards so we start to face the right way. Then it should take about four hours until we get to Arizona and hopefully see Taylor Swift's concert.
- Thank you! And I apologise. I was wrong and didn't want to admit it. It's just hard to see that my baby sister is already a woman, and I need to start treating you like one.
- Finally! But I can also try to be less aggressive when I'm talking to you. And do you seriously want to go to Taylor Swift's concert? I was just trying to annoy you!
- I know you want to go so why don't we go? That is my way to apologise by hearing that awful music.
-I will just forget you insulted Taylor's music so we can move on. But, if you want we can see a basketball game as well.
And the two siblings started to fill the room where once was nothing but silence, with words and laughs, transforming their roadtrip into a connecting journey.
