It was a snowy day in Mississauga Canada, tiny
snowflakes were falling from the sky, the wind was blowing and smoke left our
mouths from how cold it was. During my Christmas holidays cousins, Kiara and
Serenna had planned on going to the Christmas market during the evening since
we had spent the day at home, baking and watching movies. Little did we know I
was about to embarrass myself in front of such a well-known person.
After a full day of bonding with my two cousins, we
decided that we should get out of the house and visit The Mississauga Christmas
Market, they were extremely excited to show me all of the lights and
decorations, the little shops and booths, the ice rink, and I quickly agreed, I
couldn't wait to see what it was all about. By the time we got there, it was
already little the sun had set and the weather was getting colder, we browsed
all the little shops, we ended up buying matching ugly Christmas sweaters and
some gingerbread cookies, and that's when we saw the enormous ice rink. I was
flabbergasted I had never seen anything like it, we quickly got in line and
shortly we entered the rink. Everything was going smoothly we were laughing,
smiling well that was until suddenly a little kid dumped me which resulted in
me falling on top of a stranger and breaking my nose. I stood up profusely
until I saw who it was...
‘I can't believe I just fell on top of my favourite
singer and dirtied their sweater’ I thought to myself, Robin skinner is also
known as Cavetown, maybe for most people they wouldn't have realized who it was
but for me I knew exactly who he was, he was someone who made music I related
to that made me feel seen and understood. But yet there I was standing with
a bloodstained nose, messed up hair in
front of a role model of mine. Eventually, I had to be taken to the hospital,
and he had to come with me since he had been injured by the impact of the fall,
even though I was extremely embarrassed it was a very pleasant night, I and my
cousins had lots of fun and we ended up having really lovely conversations with
Robin. To this day I 've kept the photo we took together and the autograph he gave
me, but maybe next time I'll be more vigilant of my surroundings.
