My trip to London
Last summer, I got the opportunity to travel
to England with my sister and her husband. It was around the end of July and we
got there by plane.
Right after we landed, we took the train to a
region of London called Tottenham. We stayed at a ‘Bed and Breakfast’ and while
we explored a little bit of the area, the first thing we noticed about the
people was that, the women were wearing wigs and the men had big beards and
often wore clothes that looked like the ones from the Victorian era. The reason
behind it was, that the locals of Tottenham were mostly Jewish. I personally
found it very interesting, because they were different from other Jews that I
had met before.
Since Tottenham is very close to the actual
city of London, in less than 15 minutes, we got to the Westminster station by
underground. The city was incredibly crowded, but it was very beautiful and we
got to visit a lot of famous places like Picadilly Circus, the Big Ben, the
London Eye and even got a tour of the Parliament, since my brother-in-law's
aunt works there. The building is very old and historical, as well. Not many
people know, but inside the Parliament there is a small chapel and by the time
that women were protesting for better work conditions and better opportunities
in life, there was one specific woman who hid from the police in a small cabin
inside of the chapel and it was that woman who later on, was one of the few who
assured the women’s rights in London.
Travelling to London was a great experience
that I am thankful for. I got to learn a lot from the city and the people were
very friendly and lovely. It's one of the most beautiful cities in the world. I’d like to travel there sometime soon again!
